About ABFSE Scholarship

The American Board of Funeral Service Education Scholarship Program (ABFSE Scholarship) was created to offer financial prizes to students enrolled in mortuary science or funeral service schools to help them further their professional education. The program, which was started in the 1960s, has given scholarships to hundreds of students.

Scholarship awardees are chosen in a competitive process. Every year, thousands of students apply for awards and there are some positions available. The Scholarship Committee of the American Board of Funeral Service Education bestows awards. In April and October of each year, the Committee holds two meetings.

Scholarships are typically between $1,500 and $2,500 for an academic year, and they are directly credited to the student’s tuition fees once the college has confirmed their enrolment. Students may submit one application for consideration every calendar year.
