Students at the master’s level participating in a health education program at a recognized college or university in the United States or a U.S. territory are eligible for the scholarship. An annual scholarship of $1,000 is given to a master’s level student. The reward may be used however the winner chooses. Additionally, recipients will get a free student membership to SHAPE America for a full year. The deadline for submission of the application materials is October 15.

Barbara A. Cooley Master’s Scholarship Eligibility –

1. All Candidates must be United States Citizenship.
2. A master’s level student enrolled in a school-based health education program at an approved institution or university in the United States or a U.S. territory is eligible for the award.
3. At the time of the SHAPE America application deadline, the applicant’s overall grade point average had to be at least 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 to be considered.
4. The previous beneficiaries of SHAPE America scholarships are ineligible.

Application Required to Apply for the Scholarship –

1. Resume – Attach a current resume that lists your extracurricular and volunteer activities, affiliations with organizations that support your community and career, and any distinctions or accolades you may have received academically in the last two years.
2. Essay– Include a paper outlining your interest in health education, your professional aspirations, and the things you aim to achieve as a health educator both now and in the future. – Your essay should be between 400 and 450 words long.
3. Transcript – A current PDF transcript of all completed college coursework, including the fall semester, should be annexed.
