About Marching Band Scholarships

Seniors in marching bands who are graduating from high school are eligible for the scholarship. The directors of the bands competing at a Bands of America Regional, Super Regional, or Grand National Championship must propose the applicant.

The purpose of the Music for All Marching Band Scholarships is to provide opportunities and support the development of music and music education in the United States. The scholarships are given to seniors who have been recommended by their band director. The student must take part in one of the 2022 Bands of America Marching Championships to be qualified.

Recipients must have a strong work ethic, be exceptional musicians, and plan to pursue a degree in music instruction. These one-time prizes are made possible by the kind donations of the friends and sponsors of Music for All listed below.

Fred J. Miller Memorial Music Education Fund

Many of the top marching bands in the world are outfitted by Fred J. Miller, Inc., a leader in pageantry uniform design and production. Their assistance makes Music for All’s educational activities possible as the Official Uniform Sponsor.

In recognition of Fred’s lifetime of dedication, talent, and love for the marching arts, the Fred J. Miller Memorial Music Education Fund was established to assist aspiring music educators. The several students who will gain from this scholarship will carry on Mr. Miller’s legacy. Each year, a student nominated by their director of bands will receive this scholarship. Additionally, the student must have played at a Regional, Super Regional, or Grand National Championship of Bands of America.

Note: The generosity of the Fred J. Miller Memorial Music Education Fund and the Miller family allowed the $2,000 prize to be given out this year. During the Grand National Finals Awards Ceremony on Saturday, November 12, 2022, the scholarship will be announced and given out.

Fred J. Miller Memorial Music Education Fund, Eligibility –

Candidates must be seniors in high school who:

  1. Have a degree in music education in mind.
  2. Plan to start college one year after finishing high school.
  3. Show exceptional musicianship, leadership abilities, and a strong work ethic.
  4. Possess a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  5. Candidates will play in a band in a Regional, Super Regional, or Grand National Championship of Bands of America.

Applications Required to Apply for the Scholarships –

  • Including all facets of academic, musical, extracurricular, and community service achievements, a résumé of leadership, and musical successes. This resume needs to highlight the candidate’s general qualifications.
  • Contact information for the band director must be included with the application; the band director will get the director recommendation form through email.
  • A 500-word minimum and 750-maximum essay responding to the following questions.
  • All applicants are urged to briefly discuss their life experiences and/or personal influences that led them to pursue a career in music education.
  • What qualities do you think make a successful music educator, and how do you demonstrate those qualities?

Music For All Foundation Scholarship

The Music for Everybody Foundation is committed to developing, offering, and fostering meaningful, life-altering musical experiences for all. Scholarships have long been given out by the Foundation, which was formerly known as The Revelli Foundation and founded in memory of Dr. William D. Revelli. The numerous students who have access to the scholarships help to preserve Dr. Revelli’s legacy. The directors of the bands that competed in the Grand National Championships recommended the students for these one-time honors.

The $1,000 Yamaha Scholarship and $1,000 Fred J. Miller Family Scholarship are made possible by the kind donations of Yamaha Corporation of America and the Fred J. Miller Family, respectively. The band director of each school may suggest two members of their band. By October 22, 2022, directors must complete the nomination form and send it, together with the necessary documents, to Music for All.

Note: At the Grand National Finals Awards Ceremony on Saturday, November 12, 2022, the scholarships will be announced and given out.

Music For All Foundation Scholarship Eligibility –

Candidates must be seniors in high school who:

  1. Have a degree in music education in mind.
  2. Show exceptional musicianship, leadership abilities, and a strong work ethic.
  3. Plan to start college one year after finishing high school.
  4. Possess a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  5. At the Bands of America Marching Championships in 2022, every candidate will participate with a band.

Application Required to Apply for the Scholarships –

  • Including all facets of academic, musical, extracurricular, and community service achievements, a résumé of leadership, and musical successes. This resume needs to highlight the candidate’s general qualifications.
  • Contact information for the band director must be included with the application; the band director will get the director recommendation form through email.
  • A 500-word minimum and 750-maximum essay responding to the following questions.
  • All Applicants Please give some details about the situations and/or individuals that influenced your decision to become a music educator.
  • What qualities do you think make a successful music educator, and how do you demonstrate those qualities?
