About MetLife Foundation Scholarship

The MetLife Foundation is dedicated to increasing opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals worldwide, working in collaboration with charities and social enterprises to develop programs that promote financial wellness and strengthen local economies. The MetLife Foundation Scholarship Fund was created in collaboration with UNCF to offer need-based financial aid to deserving African American students enrolled in recognized four-year HBCUs as juniors in the fall of 2022 (Class of 2024). Students must still fulfill the requirements in order to renew for their senior year.

Note: Applications that are incomplete won’t be accepted. Within eight weeks of the application deadline, candidates who have submitted complete applications will be notified of the scholarship decision & Candidates must be juniors in college during the academic year 2022-2023.

MetLife Foundation Scholarship eligibility-

  1. All Candidates must be a Citizen of America / USA.
  2. The overall grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  3. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be finished.
  4. Be a full-time student at an HBCU with accreditation.
  5. Have a proven, unmet financial need that your institution or university has attested to.
  6. Major in accounting, finance, or business.
  7. Be categorized as a junior in college at the start of the fall semester in 2022.

  • Fully most up-to-date transcript.
  • One letter of advice from a scholar or respected member of the neighborhood.
  • Letters are not accepted if, the letters are from family or friends.
  • Answer the essay question about your professional interests.

Guidelines for Letters of Recommendation-

  • A professor or influential member of the community must submit an online letter of recommendation.
  • Letters are not accepted if, the letters are from family or friends.
  • Recommenders must register for an account on the UNCF website if they haven’t done so already in order to submit an online recommendation for Applicants.
  • Without the invitation code sent through email, recommenders can still submit an online suggestion by following the instructions in number 4.
