About NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing
Women in the United States who are in high school or college and have a passion for technology are eligible for the scholarship. Students must major in or minor in computers at an NCWIT Academic Alliance institution. The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing (AiC) recognizes and inspires female, genderqueer, and non-binary students in grades 9–12 for their accomplishments and interests in computing. Award winners are chosen based on their ability and aspirations in technology and computing, as shown by their prior computer experience, current computing activities, leadership experience, persistence in the face of access restrictions, and long-term goals. Over 20,000 students have won an Award for AiC since 2007.
All 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, all U.S. foreign military facilities, and Canada are included in the multi-tiered award structure, which also includes Winner, Honorable Mention, and Rising Star distinctions at National and Regional Affiliate levels. NCWIT Alliance member organizations—a strong, nationwide network of universities, businesses, non-profits, and governmental organizations working to increase the influence and significant participation of girls and women from every community host Regional Affiliate Award programs in 79 cities across the country.
Starting on September 1, 2022, students can apply online. By the final deadline at 11:59 p.m. ET on October 20, 2022, applicants must submit a finished application to be eligible for the 2022–23 Award for AiC.

NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing Eligibility:
- Students in grades 9 through 12 who identify as female, genderqueer, or non-binary are encouraged to apply.
- The Applicant must meet the criteria for the significant presence test or they are a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
- The Applicant must have a Social Security Number or an American Tax Identification Number.
- At the time the account was created, the Applicants were 13 years old or older.
- They either have parental or guardian consent before the deadline for consent or are 18 or older when their application is submitted.
- They go to school either in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or on a U.S. military installation abroad.
- They are not an NCWIT employee and do not have a blood relative with any NCWIT staff members, contractors, or board members.
- Please take note that applicants who are under 18 at the time their applications are submitted will need parental or guardian consent.
Important Instructions:
Starting on September 1, 2022, all students may submit an online application. By the final deadline at 11:59 p.m. ET on October 20, 2022, applicants must submit a finished application to be eligible for the 2022–23 Award for AiC.
