About UNCF / Nissan Scholarship
Freshmen enrolling in any Historically Black College or University are eligible for the UNCF / Nissan scholarship (HBCU). The candidate must be pursuing a degree in engineering, business, marketing, information technology, or finance and must have at least a 3.0 GPA in high school. Candidates from Tennessee, Mississippi, Michigan, Texas, and San Diego, California, the metro region will receive preference.
Starting in the fall of 2022, 10 college freshmen attending any Historically Black College or University (HBCU) will have the chance to apply for the UNCF/Nissan Scholarship. A total of $10,000 in scholarships will be awarded over 4 years ($2,500 per academic year). The following requirements must be met by students to be eligible:

Number of Awards: 10 Awards.
Awarded Every Year: Yes.
Awarded Amount: Benefits up to $10,000.

UNCF / Nissan Scholarship Eligibility –
- In the fall of 2022, applicants must be enrolled as freshmen at a historically black college (HBCU) or any university that is linked with the UNCF.
- On a scale of 4.0, applicants must have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.00.
- Candidates must be enrolled in a program leading to a degree in engineering, business, marketing, IT, or finance.
- Candidates from Tennessee, Mississippi, Michigan, Texas, and San Diego, California, the metro region will receive preference.
Applications required –
- Application online is required.
- 1 letter of recommendation from a civic or community leader, a teacher, or a guidance counselor who is familiar with the applicant’s academic abilities.
- 1-page personal statement outlining your goals and any volunteer work you’ve done.
- A copy of the candidate’s most recent official or unofficial high school transcript should be required.
For the scholarship to be renewed, you must –
- Keep your cumulative GPA at least at 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Continue to be enrolled full-time as a degree applicant in good standing both personally and academically at a historically black college (HBCU) or any institution connected to the UNCF.
- Continuing your studies for a degree in engineering, business, marketing, IT, or finance.
