About Target Advancing Design Diversity Scholarship
Black/African American first-year students enrolled full-time in school for the Fall 2022 semester are eligible for the scholarship. The candidate must be enrolled in a design program.
The Target Advancing Design Diversity Scholarship, which UNCF administers, demonstrates the brand’s dedication to assisting Black/African American students educational goals nationwide who are interested in pursuing a degree in design.
Six need-based scholarships, each worth up to $3,000, will be given out this year to first-year students or incoming freshmen who have a demonstrable, unmet financial need that has been confirmed by their institution.
For the school year 2022–2023, chosen students will receive a need-based stipend worth up to $3,000 ($1,500 per semester). If the eligibility requirements are still met, the scholarship is renewable for three more years or until a degree is obtained, whichever comes first.

Target Advancing Design Diversity Scholarship Eligibility
- Applicants must be Citizens of the US.
- Applicants must be Black/African American first-year students enrolled full-time in school
- Candidates must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. on a 4.0 scale
- The candidate must be enrolled in a design program.
Application Required
- An updated academic transcript is a requirement for candidates.
- An Illustration of the applicant’s work.
- A detailed explanation of the artwork’s concept.
Note: Scholars will be chosen based on the quality and content of their written statements, as well as any submitted artwork.
